까르 <TRANSITION>

Kkar's 'TRANSITION' is a single as distinctive as the artist's name — a track that expresses the process of emotion moving from one point to another as musical transition. Since we had to contain both the first half's calm texture and the second half's expanding energy, designing the song's flow was the point we invested the most care in from the arrangement stage.

Vocal recording combined two approaches. The whispering first-half sections were captured close with a Shure SM7B to secure intimate tone, while the expanded second half switched to Neumann U87Ai to bring out mid-high clarity. Splitting microphones like this required EQ work to smoothly join the frequency curves of the two sections so the transition wouldn't feel disjointed. Added synth pads and rhythm elements were placed to dramatize the turning point without invading the vocal's space.

In mixing, we engineered the song's dynamics architecturally. The low end was deliberately kept light in the first half, with automation bringing sub-bass down naturally just after the transition point, and the reverb-to-delay ratio was adjusted to widen progressively in the second half. Mastering met streaming standards without sacrificing the transition impact.

The catharsis of the transition is felt most clearly at high listening volumes. A single that suits car audio or monitor speaker environments.
