자이(Jai) x HANASH <분홍색 패딩 소녀>

'Pink Padding Girl' by Jai and HANASH is a single that unpacks a winter scene through genre blending. For Jai's pop sensibility and HANASH's hip-hop tone to cross naturally within one track, the contrast between vocal tone and rhythm sound could not become too strong — so from the planning stage, coexisting two artists' colors was the core challenge.

Recording split each artist's sections into separate sessions. Jai's melodic parts were tracked with Neumann U87Ai to preserve mid-range air, while HANASH's rap parts were recorded in closer proximity to secure a drier texture. Transitions where the two parts connect were carefully take-matched in breath and diction pacing so the tonal shift wouldn't feel like a break.

In mixing, we divided mid-range roles so both vocals wouldn't fight in the same frequency band, and automation was applied so the drum punch stands out during rap sections while the synth and chorus space widens during pop sections. A separate short promo version was balanced for loudness independently from the final release.

The finished track aims to make the tonal difference between the two artists clearly felt on earphones while reading as a single cohesive pop song on car stereos or café playlists.
