Jeong Jin-seok's 'Is This Land Yours' is a single whose socially-charged message is clear from the title — a song that reinterprets folk-protest sensibility for a contemporary feel. For this project, the authenticity of the sound as a vessel for the message mattered most, so from arrangement to microphone choice we prioritized a restrained approach.

Vocal recording captured both the artist's conversational delivery and forceful projection on declarative sections in multiple separate takes. We used a microphone with solid low and mid-range presence to carry the weight of the lyrics directly, and in editing we worked carefully so enunciation wouldn't become exaggerated. The arrangement built waves in the song by layering brass accents onto an acoustic guitar, firm bass, and understated drums only in select sections.

Mixing focused on 'clarity of outcry.' On chorus sections, compression was applied stably so the vocal wouldn't sink into the instruments, and the rhythm section's low-end was kept firm without becoming muddy. Reverb used short room-type spaces to create a feel like an indoor rally, and mastering preserved dynamics while landing at a loudness that doesn't feel awkward even in spoken-word-like listening.

The finished track aims to maintain lyrical clarity on both venue PAs and earphones. A single where the weight of the message stands at the forefront.
