Guitar Choi <Dementia>

Guitar Choi's 'Dementia' is an instrumental single centered on the guitarist, intended — as the title suggests — to evoke a dreamlike texture of slowly fading memory. Weight rests on slow breathing and air rather than quick development, so designing the timing of emptiness mattered more than density of layering.

Recording data came from tracks provided by the artist, and from there we reworked the editing, tone, and spatial placement. The main guitar line maintained mid-range firmness while smoothing high-frequency picking noise to a moderate level, and layered clean tones and ambient guitars were spread thinly left and right to build dimensionality. Rather than aggressive effects, restrained reverb and long delay were chosen to draw out a long lingering tail.

In mixing, we cleared frequency space between the guitar layers, and automation gradually widened the stereo image toward the second half of the track. Mastering preserved dynamics rather than forcing loudness, keeping the contrast between quiet sections and the climax fully intact.

The finished work suits slow, late-night earphone listening. Artwork and promotional tone were kept cohesive so they wouldn't disturb this mood.
